Don't bank on Left Bank in Adams Morgan
This brunch was from the end of April and the only people who attended were Ann, Eloise and I. (Eloise is our youngest DCBCer...she is 6....I babysit for her and her siblings) Not mentioned in Ann's review was Eloise's fruit salad, that was nothing to write home about except for the fact that it came in this giant bowl bigger than Eloise! They knew it was coming for a child and I saw smaller fruit salad bowls on other tables - I think they were doing it just to annoy us since we had brought a child - a very cool one at that! She was bored out of her mind after about 10 minutes but stuck it out. We were going to the zoo (one of my favorite places) later that day, so she had a nice reward for sitting through boring brunch. If you ever go up to the zoo just to stroll around on a nice post-brunch Sunday, make sure to check out the best animals at the zoo: the asian clawed otters in the new Asia Trail! LOVE THEM. They are like little cartoon characters and follow each other around in a line and squeak while doing so. Then, if the first one stops, they all bump into each other - it's great!
Ann's Review:
I know Jeri had a good experience there, but Erica and I were not so jazzed about the brunch at Left Bank. The service was slow and my mimosa was $9. I had an omelet and Erica had a salad. The salad was just leaves a few sundried tomatoes and chicken. My omelet was supposed to be “wild mushrooms and goat cheese.” The mushrooms were clearly not “wild” and the cheese was not dispersed well or melted. The toast was cold and there were no condiments provided, including butter. The couple sitting next to me had ordered pancakes with a side of eggs and they said everything they ordered was cold. We decided to get some fries after seeing someone else order them and after the 25 minutes it took to get them – they were actually very tasty and hot. I say stick to Left bank for drinks. (and fries!!)
