Bourbon in Adams Morgan: Not just for Boozin'

On February 12, 2007, Bourbon became our next brunch destination...here is the review from that trip: (just to clarify, the "sooner" below means around 11:30ish...Bourbon is not big.)

"Thanks to Jeri, Erica and Dana joining me for brunch at  Bourbon this morning!  Special shout-out to Sara for cautioning us to get there sooner rather than later as we scored a booth and within minutes there was a line to get in!!

We all liked it!  As much as I love Asylum, I have to admit, Bourbon was better.  I had the scrambled eggs with wheat toast (which came cold...) but was really yummy and the coffee and service wee good.  They were a bit overwhelmed and had just 2 servers for the entire place, but still very pleasant.  Jeri had an Ostrich burger and reported that it  was the best she has ever had and she eats them from whole foods all the time! She also had a Caesar salad and was a little disappointed that the cheese was just powdered parmesan and not shaved... (me too!)  Erica had the seared tuna salad, which could have been rarer and was ok – but not disappointing! Most importantly, the mimosas are more champagne than juice but yummy and I received a free one!!

Quite UNLIKE at Crème  where they charged me $4.00, yes FOUR DOLLARS, for a glass of club soda. (A bloody Mary is $5). I am still outraged and urge you to boycott them – or go and let them know you are supposed to be boycotting them for that reason!"

Just an update to Bourbon, where went for Ann's last brunch. I was soooo hungover; I thought I was gonna die and just grunted and groaned the whole time. Ok, so you didn't need to know that, the important part is Bourbon has a back patio - very cool, but the flies are a little annoying and the service is WICKED slow. We were not as impressed with their food this time, either. Hmmm...I am on the fence with Bourbon.  Your thoughts?

I had to laugh when I saw your second post on Bourbon, because when I read the first, I couldn't see a lot good about the food (cold toast and eggs? EWWW!) but that the Mimosa's were strong, I thought - well, they give you strong drinks so you like the mediocre food!
